Dog Bowl Concert Weekends bring 5 Points Outdoors to Black Dog Salvage all season long — Saturday evening feature concerts, relaxed Sunday afternoon shows with brunch-style food trucks, and special benefit events that direct support back into regional nonprofits.
Together, these events create space for live music, community gathering, accessibility, local partnerships, family-friendly outdoor experiences, and meaningful nonprofit impact — all in one shared setting.

Dog Bowl Concert Weekends are designed as more than a concert calendar. Saturday evening feature shows pair with Sunday afternoon gatherings and standalone benefit events that help expand the impact of 5 Points Outdoors across our community.
A New Chapter for 5PTS Outdoors
The Sunday side of the series grows out of the spirit of 5 Points Music Sanctuary’s earlier Legendary Biscuit Sessions — intimate gatherings built around live music, food, and mission. This expanded outdoor format at Black Dog Salvage carries that idea forward with more room for discovery, accessibility, and shared experience.
Music, Community, and Impact
Sunday afternoons bring together live music, brunch-style food trucks, vendors, and kids activities, and several events spotlight a featured regional nonprofit partner. These events are designed to raise awareness, create connection, and help direct meaningful support back into organizations doing important work across our community.

Empty Bottles
Empty Bottles are one of Southwest Virginia’s favorite cover bands — a Roanoke-based five-piece serving up yacht rock, soul, and funk, digging into classics and deep cuts from the ’70s and ’80s. Expect dance grooves and big vocal harmonies from a band built to get a field moving.
Benefiting the Bradley Free Clinic
The Bradley Free Clinic provides compassionate, comprehensive healthcare in partnership with volunteer professionals for underserved residents of the Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas — now caring for more than 3,900 patients across over 20,000 visits each year.

Big Something
A six-piece from the North Carolina countryside, Big Something fuse improvisational rock with funk, reggae, jazz, electronica and more — huge rhythms, soaring guitars, horns, synths, and an electronic wind instrument. Seven studio albums deep and veterans of festivals like Electric Forest and Peach, they bring one of the Southeast’s most exciting live shows.

Skydog – Allman Brothers Band Tribute
Our 2026 season finale. Based in Richmond, Virginia, Skydog is widely regarded as one of the finest Allman Brothers tribute bands going — recreating the late-1960s and early-1970s sound with intricate jams, soulful blues, and real emotional depth, from Southern rock at its finest to expansive improvisation.

A founding member of Lancaster, PA psych-rock band Medusa’s Disco with a solo project of his own, Hunter Root went viral in 2023 and racked up millions of streams behind his album “Arkansas.” A multiple Central Pennsylvania Music Award winner, he brings a big voice to the field.

2-day GA passes are available for select weekends (currently September 26–27), with one ticket covering both the Saturday feature concert and the following Sunday afternoon show.
Kids 12 & under are free with an accompanying adult ticket-holder at our feature concerts, making Dog Bowl events an easy family-friendly option. (The 5 PTS Art Harvest on September 13 is a $10 admission event.)

Sunday Brunch, Now at the Food Trucks
The sit-down brunch buffet is retired. In its place, brunch-centric food trucks roll into the Dog Bowl on Sunday afternoons, serving from roughly 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Guests who purchase a brunch ticket receive vouchers redeemable for brunch at the food truck — same great morning-into-afternoon eats, more variety, shorter lines, and support for local vendors.
A bar is also available with beer, wine, seltzers, and non-alcoholic options for purchase.

How the Benefit Model Works
Nonprofit partners are invited to share their work, connect with guests, and build support for their ongoing efforts through event visibility, on-site presence, storytelling, and community engagement. The goal is not just to host a concert, but to create a platform that supports both awareness and fundraising.
That means these events carry real purpose alongside the music, giving guests a chance to enjoy the day while also learning about and supporting organizations doing important work across the region.
Our 2026 Nonprofit Partners
This season’s benefit events support the Bradley Free Clinic (August 22), VIA Centers for Neurodevelopment at the inaugural 5 PTS Art Harvest (September 13), and Clean Valley Council (October 4), continuing the spirit of earlier 5PTS community programming and prior partnerships with organizations like Carilion Clinic Foundation.
Whether guests come for the music, the food trucks, the nonprofit mission, or simply to spend time outdoors, each event is meant to feel welcoming, connected, and intentional. Accessibility, hearing loss advocacy, community partnership, and nonprofit visibility remain part of the larger vision that makes these events distinct.
Parking
There is a parking lot available across 13th Street from Black Dog Salvage. Enter from 13th Street and exit through the rear of the lot onto Cleveland Avenue. Parking is limited, so we encourage guests to carpool, bike, scooter, or walk the greenway when possible.
Bar & Concessions
The 5 Points bar will be serving a variety of draft and canned domestic and craft beers, ciders, seltzers, and wine by the glass or bottle. Please bring a valid government-issued ID if you plan to drink.
Concessions will also be available, including ice cream, bagged snacks, candy, bottled water, and non-alcoholic beverages.

We pride ourselves on welcoming people of all abilities. There is a flat area at the top of the field reserved for guests with limited mobility.

FAQs
What can I bring?
Guests may bring lawn chairs, blankets, and one sealed bottle of water per person. Please also bring a valid government-issued ID for 21+ beverage purchases.
What should I leave at home?
Weapons, outside food and beverages, alcohol, drugs, pop-up tents, large umbrellas, view-obstructing items, and bad attitudes.
Is there food at the Sunday events?
Yes. Brunch-style food trucks serve on Sunday afternoons, generally from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. If you purchase a brunch ticket, you’ll receive vouchers to redeem for brunch at the food truck. Food trucks rotate by event.
What happened to the sit-down brunch buffet?
The Legendary Brunch buffet has been retired. Brunch is now served by brunch-centric food trucks, and brunch-ticket holders receive vouchers to redeem there.
What happens if it rains?
Rain is always a concern for outdoor concerts, as there are many factors in play when planning an event this size. The show will go on rain or shine, so please dress for the outdoor conditions. You are welcome to bring small umbrellas, but no pop-up tents or golf umbrellas that will obstruct the view of others. If the forecast calls for severe weather that includes lightning or ongoing storms, a decision will be made a few days before the event and communicated to all ticket holders and the general public.
Can I bring my dog?
Well-behaved, leashed pups are welcome.
Will there be a bag search?
Yes. We will be taking a quick look to help ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests.
Where is the box office?
The main entrance is located at the back of the Black Dog Salvage main parking lot. Look for the big yellow banner that says “Box Office.”
Are kids free?
At our feature concerts, children 12 and under do not need a purchased ticket, but they must attend with an accompanying adult ticket-holder. (The 5 PTS Art Harvest on September 13 is a $10 admission event.)
What are 2-day passes?
On weekends where both a Saturday and Sunday event are offered, some weekends include a 2-day GA pass covering both days — currently the September 26–27 weekend (Big Something + Lazy Man Dub Band). Check the linked ticket pages for the current options for each weekend.
When does music start on Sundays?
Sunday events open at 11:00 AM, brunch food trucks serve from about 11:00 AM–1:00 PM, and music typically begins around 12:00–12:30 PM depending on the event.
I have tickets to the postponed August 15 show — are they still good?
Yes. Tickets for the postponed August 15 Grateful for Biggie show are honored for Big Something at the Dog Bowl on September 26. Please contact Jill at 540-795-5618 with any questions.
Where can I smoke?
We have a designated tent for tobacco smokers and vaporizer users on the right side of the field, between the stage and vendor row. Please do not smoke in the general audience area or near the bar, food trucks, or vendors.
Can I re-enter the venue if I leave?
We prefer that you remain in the venue once admitted, though we understand there are occasional extenuating circumstances.
Will Black Dog Salvage be open during the shows?
Black Dog Salvage closes at 6:00 PM, but we encourage guests to stop in and explore before the Saturday evening show or before the Sunday event.
