The Power of Bluegrass With Jenni Lyn

THE RADIANCE OF EMOTIVE VOCALS AND A ROWDY MANDOLIN

The Sanctuary 6/30/17

Last Friday, Jenni Lyn and Co. brought the power of her amazing voice and her razor sharp mandolin playing to the Sanctuary. Previously known from the bluegrass supergroup, Della Mae, she entertained a lucky crowd with driving bluegrass classics and plenty of inspired original music. The jamming was tight and the setting was intimately crafted.  Inviting us into that ritual sharing of elevated vibration so many of us have come to love about live music. At one point Lyn commented noted the beauty of the space and the love she felt radiating from her rapt audience.

Indeed, there was much beauty and love as Jennie Lyn herself, who was evidently born to express through the high lonesome sound, with her compelling and alluring voice, strong songwriting, mandolin flourishes and solid bandmates, filled the night with heart and soul.

If you missed her playing live, her recent album, Burn Another Candle – is a highly recommended way into the state-of-mind of this talented artist. There are eight original songs covering a range of emotions and narratives conveyed with vulnerability, compassion, and honesty – like a breath of fresh earnest air.  The four choice cover songs fit in perfectly as well and may also be new to you.

To hear more of that sweet bluegrass sound, come check out The Stray Birds next Friday 7/14~
