Los Angeles based instrumental supergroup Circles Around The Sun makes their Sanctuary debut Friday, November 5th. Featuring bassist Dan Horne (Cass McCombs, Jonathan Wilson), keyboardist Adam MacDougall (Black Crowes), drummer Mark Levy, and new guitarist John Lee Shannon.

Circles Around The Sun’s sound was created partly by design, but also partly by tragic circumstance. On August 26, 2019, a week after laying down his tracks for their third self-titled album, founder Neal Casal committed suicide. He left behind a note for the group, asking for them to continue in his absence—to continue recording, touring, and playing together. They’ve chosen to honor his wishes. “Our mission is to extend Neal’s musical legacy,” says drummer Levy. “He was a classy dude and had a regal vibe about him. The other side of it is the mental health legacy. Maybe there are people out there in the same sort of darkness Neal was in, who can hear us and say we can work positively on multiple fronts in his memory.”

In this metamorphosis, Circles Around the Sun spans both heartbreak and hope. Doors close; windows open; new directions extend themselves in mysterious ways. But sometimes you know it’s real from the first beat. It just clicks. We’ll see you on the dancefloor, at the festival, at the next jam session, where everyone comes together and all is forgiven. It’s just how Neal would want it. It’s Circles Around The Sun.

4th Annual Golf for Sound Tournament — Final Results

The Foundation Fighting Blindness, the world’s leading organization committed to finding treatments and cures for blinding retinal diseases, is proud to present the fourth installment in their livestream music series, Music to Our Eyes. This time around, the series kicks off the Foundation’s 50th Anniversary year with an intimate conversation and exclusive musical collaboration featuring apl.de.ap and Lachi. The premiere is set for Thursday, September 16, at 7 p.m. ET.

Music to Our Eyes is presented in partnership with Two Blind Brothers — founded by Bradford and Bryan Manning, who created the apparel company to create ultra-soft clothing, build community, and donate 100 percent of profits toward research curing blindness.

One of the founding members of the seminal hip hop group Black Eyed Peas, Apl.de.Ap is also an accomplished singer, rapper, record producer, and philanthropist. He will join forces with Beacon V.I.P. Brand Ambassador and award-winning musician Lachi for an exclusive collaboration that will be heard for the very first time at Music to Our Eyes.

Both Apl.de.Ap and Lachi will also sit down with Jason Menzo, Chief Operating Officer at the Foundation Fighting Blindness, for an intimate discussion about their individual experiences with vision loss and their shared inspirational determination.

In 2015, the Usher Syndrome Coalition declared the third Saturday in September as global “Usher Syndrome Awareness Day.” This day falls near the autumnal equinox in the northern hemisphere, marking the start of days that contain more darkness than light—a powerful metaphor for the threat of Usher syndrome.

Saturday, Sept. 18, 5 Points Music Foundation is asking YOU to help match our donation of $500 to the Usher Syndrome Coalition. Their mission is to raise awareness and accelerate research for the most common genetic cause of combined deafness and blindness. They also provide information and support to individuals and families affected by Usher syndrome—folks like 5 Points’ own Tyler Godsey, whose two children both have the disease.

Please consider donating a little or a lot to this cause so close to our hearts. Together we can create a light beyond the darkness.

UPDATE: THESE SHOWS HAVE BEEN MOVED INSIDE TO THE SANCTUARY

Due to the small, yet real potential for thunderstorms and lightning this weekend, we have decided the best way to ensure a safe and enjoyable event is to move them inside. All tickets are good for entry and additional measures are being made to ensure VIP and Reserved ticket holders are provided with seating, tables, and their own space to enjoy the show. We apologize in advance for any issues this causes and are available to help ticket holders who may not feel comfortable inside or have other concerns about the move. Contact us at info@5pointsmusic.com and we will work to accommodate you accordingly.

Friday, July 2: The Dead Reckoning w. The Sol Roots Band

Founded in 2016, The Dead Reckoning is a bundle of professional musicians from VA who love and perform Grateful Dead and Dead inspired music. Dead Reckoning shows have quickly become a prime destination for lovers of Grateful Dead-centric music.

The Sol Roots band performs a mix of raw funk, deep blues, energetic rock, greasy soul, and hypnotic grooves. Sol is a guitarist and vocalist who has toured with many roots, funk, blues and soul legends around the world as a part of Music Maker Revue. Paying homage to the greats, and with a love of Universal Music as the guiding light, Sol steps out on a path with his own unique, powerful voice and a talented band of musicians.

Saturday, July 3: Freekbass w. Marcus Rezak’s ‘Shred is Dead’

Freekbass is one of the world’s great bass players. He has been on the cover of Bass Musician Magazine, Bass Guitar Magazine/UK, three times, and has been featured in Bass Player Magazine numerous times. He has hosted master classes at “Bass Player Live” in Los Angeles and New York and “The London Bass Guitar Show”. And along with these bass superpowers, Freekbass has a funk music pedigree that is authentic. He has worked alongside funk legends, Bootsy Collins (who gave him his nickname during a studio session) calling Freekbass “The New Spritual Warrior for the Funk” and keyboard icon, Bernie Worrell, who guested on many of Freekbass’ albums and live projects.

Shred Is Dead brings progressive instrumental and vocal performances of The Grateful Dead & Jerry Garcia Band, harvesting a pure blend of inspirational jams and fierce rock n roll. Led by guitarist Marcus Rezak with an all-star group of musicians from across the universe: John Kimock (Mike Gordon Band), John Colman (Muscle Tough), and Scott Hannay (Wild Adriatic). “I like to take the Grateful Dead and make it a little more high-octane, a little faster and a little more energized.” ~Marcus Rezak
