The joint just keeps hoppin’ with the return of Charlie Parr on June 22, the return of the LEGENDARY Biscuit Sessions featuring Gryzzle on July 7, and a first-time Roanoke appearance from The Octopus Project on July 8.

Charlie Parr is back on the 5 Points stage with his rustic, steely blues; this time bringing along Eight Point Star, a trio of seasoned mountain music players.

Something about homemade biscuits and the sizzle of Gryzzle sounds about right to us! Back by driving demand, the LEGENDARY Biscuit Sessions return with speciality biscuit combos and fresh sides from Chef Ed and white hot jazz fusion from Harrisonburg outfit, Gryzzle, on our stage.

In the vein of Talking Heads or B52’s, The Octopus Project are a creative force combining music, art, and technology to push themselves beyond the definition of “band.” This Austin, TX trio are embarking on a summer tour just as the movie Damsel, for which the group has contributed their second film score, is set to premiere in wide release. Fellow Austinite, Spenser Stephenson opens as the electronica project Botany.

Amid a flurry of spring activity, 5 Points Music Sanctuary has been quietly simmering lots of new series and partnerships to keep the joint hoppin’ this summer.

This season we debut OPEN MIC NITE. Every first and third Sunday beginning May 20th, the Sanctuary will open our stage to you! This town is teeming with talent and we want to see what you’ve got. So dust off your axe and polish up your act. Your 15 minutes is up next!

Also new this year, our SUMMER COUCH TOUR series. We can’t always pack up the camper and head out on the festival circuit. Sometimes you have to stay put. Join us at 5 Points Music as we livestream some of the hottest summer concerts on the big screen. No overpriced ticket or sunscreen required. It’s FREE!

June 23rd we welcome back GRAVE DANCERS BURLESQUE performing Purple Reign of the Thin White Duke. Yes, yes, and yes!!!

June also brings the first event benefiting not only our hearing advocacy programs, but also the efforts of community partners we would like to support. On June 29th we present GRATEFUL DOGS, a concert to benefit Angels of Assisi. Headliners will be THE DEAD RECKONING with local veterans THE KIND kicking off the night.

More is in the hopper, folks so keep your calendars ready!

Friday we sink into old-time roots and honest lyrics. The Ryan Montbleau Band bring the calm before the storm showcasing work from Ryan’s 10-year career as a singer/songwriter. Recently, he partnered with 5 Points favorite Hayley Jane (without her Primates) for the sassy duo Yes, Darling. Tonight he brings the band to give us a little something to shake off the week. We love the field recording below of “Ghosts”.

Ryan Montbleau – Ghosts

Opening the night Friday is tight acoustic four-piece, Driftwood. This band will bring the folk, old-time and country sound you’d expect from their banjo/fiddle/guitar/upright bass combo and then throw in some punk rock just to keep you on your toes. Click the link below to hear a stellar cover of “Sweet Virginia”.
