October just keeps getting better as we celebrate the return of Pink Talking Fish to the Sanctuary! PTF debuted here last October during their epic Halloween run featuring songs from Phish’s Halloween Cover Sets and followed up with another phenomenal show in January 2018.

Now, they return on Friday October 12, capping off an incredible start to October in which we welcome Mevlin Seals & JGB, Nora Jane Struthers, Hayley Jane & the Primates, Kung Fu and Roanoke’s original rockstars, Agents of Good Roots. With each event, we are raising funds to help launch and further develop Soundfriendly.com, a website dedicated to making the world more sound friendly through hearing loss advocacy, music therapy, and other initiatives of 5 Points Music Foundation.

Join us this October to help make Soundfriendly.com a success!

A LEGENDARY Thank You goes out to Place Called Home, Chef Ed, and all of you who were a part of last Saturday’s LEGENDARY Biscuit Session! Day of show tickets including biscuits sold out in under an hour and a full house of music fans, young and old, rocked out to Place Called Home’s anthemic originals and choice covers. Circle October 27th on your calendar for our next round of biscuits and bands. More information to come!

That very same night of the 27th, it’s a Dead Reckoning Halloween throw down! The evening will begin at 5:30 for a pre-show LEGENDARY Taco Dinner. The Dead Reckoning will take the stage at 8:00 for an epic night of music. We’ll be awarding a 6-Show Power Pass to the Halloween Costume that surpasses all others in theme, execution, and most importantly spirit! What does our LEGENDARY Taco Dinner include? Check it out below!

Please note, purchasing tickets in advance for our food centered events like Biscuit Sessions and Taco Nights guarantees you won’t miss out on these LEGENDARY spreads. We plan for all of our advance ticket buyers, but only have a limited number of day of show food tickets to sell at the door.

October is very significant for all of us at 5 Points Music Sanctuary. It was eight years ago this month that Forest, son of director Tyler Godsey and wife Kristin, received his cochlear implants. On October 18th, 2000, eleven month old Forest heard his very first sounds – his mother telling him, “I Love You”. This is the spark that ignited our mission to pursue the power of sound. We invited Jeremy Garrett and Larry Keel, two of our favorite performers, to play for us on Thursday, October 18th, which is also Kristin’s birthday, and they have confirmed! Tickets are on sale now, so please purchase yours so we can share this very special night with you!

Fittingly, October is National Audiology Awareness Month and National Protect Your Hearing Month so you can bet we will make it a memorable one. Melvin Seals & JGB, Nora Jane Struthers & the Party Line, Hayley Jane & The Primates and our inaugural Golf for Sound fundraiser are all scheduled – and that’s just the first week! Please plan on joining us for as many events as you can pack in this October.

Back in July, The Darkside Experience blew the Sanctuary away with their impeccable Pink Floyd covers. They managed to nail the originals in sound and scope while bringing the improvisational elements you expect from a live show. On NOVEMBER 10th, they will combine their considerable talents with our dazzling light show for an experience unmatched by any local venue. This show is expected to sell out quickly, so secure your entry today!

Lazy Man Dub Band are on a mission. Along with their classic roots, rock & reggae sound, they are determined to bring a vibe of love, unity and harmony. These local favorites return to 5 Points Music Sanctuary SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17th. Tickets on sale now!

Allen Thompson has no shortage of friends. And it’s little wonder. This Roanoke raised musician brings a passion to the stage that is undeniable. He has retired the Allen Thompson Band lineup to reimagine his sound; drawing from influences as diverse as Parliament and Little Feat. On FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd, Allen Thompson & Friends make their Sanctuary debut. Fellow Roanoke to Nashville Singer/Songwriter Spencer Ryan will open the night with haunting country and blues. Go ahead and acquire your tickets today!

Our Open Mic Nite has been rousing success with a steady stream of returning artists and always a few new faces. We will continue the streak every first and third Sunday of the month with sign-ups beginning at 5:30p. Not sure you can make it before the place fills up? Request seating for the next event, THIS SUNDAY, online. Save your hard earned money for the bar because admission is FREE!

Our October lineup was already on fire with the hottest shows from Melvin Seals & JGB, Nora Jane Struthers, Agents of Good Roots & a Jeremy Garrett/Larry Keel double header. But we’re not done yet!

Hayley Jane & the Primates return Saturday, October 6th with what is guaranteed to be an electrifying performance on the 5 Points stage. Relix Magazine describes them as “one of the most exciting and rapidly ascending bands touring the jamband circuit today. The band possesses a natural sense of fearlessness on stage, which is fueled by their unquestionable chemistry, and daring sense to explore musical parts unknown by pushing the envelope in a live setting.” Treat yourself and make sure you have tickets reserved today!

This Halloween we have not one but TWO great shows to set a spooky mood. Saturday, October 27th The Dead Reckoning hit the stage to bring out The Dead and we’ll debut a LEGENDARY Taco spread to feed the beast within. Tuesday, October 30th Grave Dancers Burlesque return with Devil’s Night: Burlesque of Mischief & Mayhem. And with a name like Grave Dancers, you can be sure they know how to throw down on Halloween! Lots of great seats are available for this show so pick your preferred spot today!

Summer may be over but the Couch Tour continues! Wednesday, October 31st through Saturday, November 3rd we will livestream Phish from Vegas, Baby! If you can’t be in Sin City for this 4-night run, you can hang with your favorite local phans at The Sanctuary where admission is always PHREE! As a bonus, No Tarps Allowed!

September has come up on us fast and we’re moving into high gear with so much great music on the horizon. Bring your family, friends, and a hearty appetite to another LEGENDARY Biscuit Session Saturday, September 15th. Place Called Home will be providing the entertainment and Chef Ed will be laying out an Apple Harvest Biscuit Brunch not to be missed. Behind the bar we’re mixing Apple Cider Mimosas along with your favorite morning elixirs. Make sure there are biscuits waiting for you by purchasing your tickets today!

New to the Sanctuary Stage on Friday, September 21st, Soul Sessions will bring their best and brightest for spoken word, poetry and musings. The night’s theme is “If all you heard, was all you saw. If all you saw, was all you heard.” All main floor seating is just $5 so don’t miss your chance to catch these talented locals bringing their creativity and heart to the Roanoke entertainment scene. THIS WEEKEND we close out the final dates of our Summer Couch Tour Series. After the Curveball from Hell, we’ll present all three nights of Phish Dicks! FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY we’ll livestream on the big screen their run from Dick’s Sporting Good Arena in Commerce City, Colorado. New York style pizza will be available from Tony Avellino’s Italian Restaurant. Did we mention a dollar off all beverages? Did we mention admission is FREE? Come hang!
